on a split rcd board if they put both light circuits on the same rcd is it a deviation, or worth noteing thanks

will just put it down as deviation,

dont know why they did it its a new build

:^O

it is bad practise,

this forum is great, but it does make me lazy, the brb is upstairs and i have a fair idear where the reg is.

thanks for fast answer

Deviation?

can be argues either way IMHO...

pivots around 314.1 (iii) page 39!

but you could argue if sufficient table lamps etc.. off socket circuits are available..

or emergency lighting in any really dark areas?

Then you have taken account of a 'single circuit fault' causing inconvenience! ; \

Good practice IMHO no!

Bad practice IMHO YES!

would I do it... NO! :D ;)

BUT!!!

I would check WHY the two light are on the same RCD...

My bet is they have a shared/borrowed neutral! :| ;)

In which case it would be a deviation from 314.4,

and IMHO is a more dangerous practice due to risk of shock when trying to isolate one of the light circuits! :| :(

i had borrowed nutral suspision, its a 3 story house, light up and down,

i am adding light fitting minor work

well i dont want to get into fixing that, its not an old house u would think they would not borrow nutral
