called to a rented flat earlier to repair lights. this was the kitchen light (the fault was a burnt out perm live above the fitting). thought it would be best to replace the pendant....

Why? Should have just replaced the Perm Live. There's plenty of life left on that pendant, which probably started it's life off as a 6" Pendant. ]:)

it was easier to replace it with a shiny new pendant than try and get the grease off the existing

 
Unusual place to have a pendant drop!

On the kitchen worktop?

C, mon your jokin of course its safe, you can grab it and the rcd will disconnect before you die!!!

RCD?! its a TT with really old ELCB, 3036 fuses, and some other weird stuff next to mains board. looks like it was wired by the romans, and never touched since!
