RCD Protection

Question

At a property with no RCD protection, I have been asked to fit a bathroom fan.

Will I need to fit an RCD / RCBO for the lighting circuit if the cable I add is in the ceiling void but the small drop down to the fan is chased in the wall????

OR

If the fan is in the bathroom, all circuits in there must be RCD'd.

surely the fan can be fed through a RCD spur and then your work complies, and the existing wiring doesnt. just note it on the cert?

Why dont you fit a remote fan, ie the fan motor and the wiring is outside the bathroom in the loft.
