Just a quick one

I tried to use my pals screwfix clamp meter and couldnt get it working...prob werent using it right.

Do you just have to put the clamp jaws around main tail to see what its pulling or do you have to use the other prongs to detect voltage or will just the clamp suffice in getting amperage reading.

Thanks in advance

Also make sure the HOLD button (if fitted) is not pressed. This holds the reading say if you were in a poorly lit area so you can see what it is when you get into a well lit area. If the HOLD button is pressed when it is reaading zero it is only going to read zero.

be aware that if you include the return neutral (or phase, if you measuring the neutral) within the clamp, they will cancel out to give you a reading of 0A
