Tested two circuits today and all was ok until RCD trip times. On x5 The reading was 11ms. However, on x 1 it was showing >300ms. Is this a fail on an EIC?

if its a 30mA rcd, make sure its set to 1x30mA and not 1x15mA.

Just a thought.

i would think its a fail, its 200ms for the bs4293 and 300ms for bs61008

On a 30mA RCD / RCBO shouldn't they be...

x

Yes Thanks - You and yours alright Mate?

Try removing the circuit (L + N) from the RCD and test it in complete isolation..

I had one the other day like this.. circuit tested out ok, but when it was connected to the RCBO it failed to trip on one of the tests...

Thanks chaps, have decided to change the CU tomorrow so hopefully this will rectify things.
You don't do things by halves! If an old lady calls you out to replace a lamp outside you rewire the lighting circuit............

:D

You havent got a Time Delayed RCD in the circuit have you?

i.e. 'Type S' (selective)...

which could have operating times within a range of 130ms - 500ms??? ?:|

e.g. Page 92 O-S-G, 11.3 bullet point (ii).

OR

as has been mentioned....

You ARE testing the RCD with the circuit (load) disconnected? :|

As per 11.1 O-S-G page 91,

general test procedure RCD operating times.

;) Guinness

with your plug in lead is it a case of turning everthing off?
