    Electric test fail.

its unusual to have all 3 open circuit. single fault would only affect one of them. 3 individual faults, one on each its not so common. most likely someone's changed a socket or something and left half them out. or there's been a fault and a section of cable has been intentially disconnected...

    What could go wrong...

press for soap, press and hold to isolate, press and hold whilst flicking light switch on & off 5 times to switch it back on?

    EICR issues

welcome to our world where the regs constantly change, often making no sense other to make someone else more money, and many times contain errors and even the ****** corrections have been known to contain errors...

    EICR issues

chances are the heaters are 2kw (or less) panel heaters. so under 10a. so nothing to code. RCD codes are correct. good luckwith RCBO's for that board, probably going to be easier to change it. light questionable depending on height. surprised they didn't give a C1 for the board not being...

    Electric test fail.

pre amd2... work to 18th original & amd1 are now failures

    Sparking emersion heating switch

normal-ish. you'll always get a spark when making / breaking a load like that but its not usually that visible. if you get any burning / fishy smell then its time to change it

    Extraneous bonding

if it goes into the ground then its almost always extraneous. so much so that it can be used as an earth electrode

18th Edition Amd3 DPC For Info

i did suggest that and they may do so but that's not my decidion

18th Edition Amd3 DPC For Info

told them that its a C3 at worst. they want a quote to change to type A though. its a school and they've now got a report saying its unsatisfactory. so they need to 'fix' it to get it compliant. and it being a school, certain other companies come in and think they can get away with trying to...

18th Edition Amd3 DPC For Info

looked at a job yesterday - EICR by another company has C2 for type AC RCBO's and require type A. installation is probably 4-5 year old

Electric Radiators... are there any independent reviews!

split units are better just not always the most practical. single unit is better as a DIY job. depending on layout & where its going, having 2 large holes through the wall may not be an issue. or there may not be space for the outside unit
  12. Andy™

Electric Radiators... are there any independent reviews!

definitely, however at least with this one there is no messing around with pipework / F gases since its a complete unit
  13. Andy™

Electric Radiators... are there any independent reviews!

as above, go for air con units. far more energy efficient. you can also get them as a single unit that's inside only, has 2x large holes through the wall for air flow for what would normally be the outside unit

    Mock exam question

best keep up with current standards. its been selectivity since 18th edition in 2018...

18th Edition Amd3 DPC For Info

people writing the regs have the same issue as H&S people - they do a good job, things change for the best and everything goes better. now what do they do? they keep changing stuff to justify their existance (and get bribes from manufacturers to incluide a requirement for their products)

18th Edition Amd3 DPC For Info

    so basically amd3 is a ****** correction

    Exams!

one thing i hate about exams / tests. you don't always find out what you got wrong so you can't learn from it

Looking for a clamp ammeter that will measure DC current?

probably used to calibrate the calibrators
  19. Andy™

    Mock exam question

the entire question is a bit crap. id expect most socket circutis to be 16a or greater MCB. whatever fuse is in the plug of the appliance isn't really my problem. and we all know in a short circuit a B32 will probably trip before a 13a fuse blows anyway
  20. Andy™

    Mock exam question

selectivity is nothing to do witht he fuse ratings being higher than than what would protect the cable. its making sure the fuse ratings will generally cause the one closest to the fault to go first. so if both are the samt hen either or both will blow. so go through the options again and see...
