    Zones

I understand this Murdoch. I was meaning more along the lines of if someone was using the shower then it could be possible for a fan drenching.

    Zones

Hi all, On holiday to a remote location this week. Just a little something caught my eye: I know that part 7 in the regs is all about special locations and zones for electrical equipment. Would it not be unreasonable to assume that when someone could accidentally spray water into the shower...

    Bizarre RCD tripping fault

Thanks alot for the offer mate much appreciated. However not so sure its that urgent of a problem to be solved as we hardly go up into the loft anyway just for storage really. Just inconvenience for lighting i suppose.

    Bizarre RCD tripping fault

Whats the possibility of that? Could a RCD ramp test prove this?

    Bizarre RCD tripping fault

Also just confirming that this RCD tripping doesn't occur every time the lighting is switched on.

    Bizarre RCD tripping fault

Hope you enjoyed yourself with a few bevvies on Friday night! Will try to dig out an EICR or EIC from past years on the installation. Believe it was rewired in the 90's.

    Bizarre RCD tripping fault

Thanks alot guys for all the inputs into this scenario. Trying my best not to overthink things and keep things simple might not need to jump to testing straight away. I don't currently have the means of testing the installation but I would say that full dead testing may bring something up...

    Was thinking that yes.

    Bizarre RCD tripping fault

Several years, Wiring was altered in the loft area after access improvement was made to the area.

    Bizarre RCD tripping fault

Perhaps what I was thinking too regarding the re-positioning of the circuits. Was also thinking that maybe they had been swapped to avoid having nuisance tripping issues on the RCD with the Alarm circuit. Just a theory anyway. The Alarm panel is actually just next to this board.

Copy that, will report back with findings.

    Bizarre RCD tripping fault

Not too sure that it's a good idea to switch off the alarm circuit as it's probably been put on the non-RCD protected side of the board for a reason. However if you look closely the Alarm circuit and Upstairs Lighting circuits have been swapped at one point. Considering that might have...

    Bizarre RCD tripping fault

Agreed yes a fault on a non-rcd protected circuit could trip the RCD. What I find more bizarre is the location. Why do the lights in the loft stay on when the RCD trips purely because the only LTG circuit protected by the RCD is the downstairs circuit. Here is a picture of the board if that...

    Bizarre RCD tripping fault

I understand. What I can't seem to understand is why the loft lighting continues to stay on when the RCD trips. Surely they would not be wired onto the downstairs lighting which is the only non-RCD protected circuit. They are old fluorescent tubes, I was originally considering any in-rush...

    Bizarre RCD tripping fault

Hi all, Strange problem ive been trying to get my head around recently. I have an old single RCD protected Wylex fuse board in my property. Every time the loft space lights are turned on the RCD seems to trip out yet the loft space lights stay on for the duration. However the only circuit not...

    HELP Tripping problems

Now that you've said this a 16A MCB does sound a little odd. Could cause some other issues later on. Even worse for upstairs lighting on a 20A MCB!

Your suggesting reused cabling has been used to fit these lamps?
