What size trip should have been fitted?

If fitted properly they can be immersed in a puddle to a depth of 1m. However, many installers seem to lack MC4 spanners needed to do them up properly, or overtigten and cross thread them. Some factory fitted connectors aren't always great, and a favourite of any seal leaking is getting dirt on...

Bathroom fan signal live wire on a dimmer - okay or not?

I don't think he's right about that, or the fan would not work when you switch the light on. Either way it's probably looking for a 240V pulse.

    Off grid inverter issue

Change the MCBs for RCBOs, your issue is earth leakage across shared circuits. Currently you have 30mA earth leakage max, whereas RCBOs give 30mA per circuit. It also sounds like the new inverter has higher earth leakage than the old unit. You also shouldn't be sharing RCDs with solar inverters...

    Induction cooker installation

I'm intrigued by the tape on the main fuse. I think you need to contact your local DNO to report a potentially dangerous fuse carrier - it won't cost you anything to do so, or any repairs.

    Faulty Electric shower

I have a Triton remote shower unit, it was significantly cheeper than the Mira version at £500ish, it's been fine for 8 years, but generally I fit Mira and nothing else.

How are BG light switches perceived among electricians?

I would say Crabtree is the choice for many schools I've worked in.
