    Ok, I get that its a standard thing, I just thought there might be a reason! ABC, I get that makes some sense, or XYZ could work but why UVW. Anyway its not important. thanks guys!

    I was just wondering why the coils on a 3phase motor are often marked as U,V and W? Does anyone know where this originated from, just seems an odd choice of letters? headbang Thanks.

    Jb's under floor

    I just use good quality insulation tape, kept in my pocket so its warm, stetched slightly as I apply it to the cable so that it sticks well. I have never known good tape to fall off, but I realise I should probably use heat shrink or self amalgamating.
