    Weird Voltage reading

Thanks for the responses. It's none of those though. Where the neutral screws in to the fitting, that has broken off. So there was no circuit. I've soldered it in place. I knew whatever the reason the fitting wasn't working I'd fix that... still don't know why the voltage goes up and down...

    Weird Voltage reading

It's the second light of four... They are connected in a standard fashion, from 1 to 2 to 3 to 4. If there was a loose connection at 2, then 3 and 4 wouldn't work. But also, wouldn't the weird V reading affect the other 2 working lights in some way? It doesn't, they seem to be working fine...

Yeah, I'm gonna take the dimmer off and wago the wires together, and see what difference it makes. Thanks!

    Weird Voltage reading

Hi, I'm having an issue with a light. Its a fitting that also has another 3 fittings on the dimmer switch. Basically, one of them isn't working. I changed the bulb and nothing. I tested the bulb, it is fine. So, I decide to take the fitting off and see if power is actually getting to it, and...

2nd Earth Rod on TT System

Of course not 🤣 However, the 2 rods which are 4ft are at least 10m apart... and I'm working on the premise that 2 is better than 1. What do I need and is it expensive?

2nd Earth Rod on TT System

Hi, You are quite right, but I think and hope this DIY section (which itself denotes a non-professional) of this forum is for numpties like me who are going to take matters in to our own hands regardless, and you professionals are willing to advise us numpties, as we're going to attempt it...

2nd Earth Rod on TT System

Hi, The armoured cable is earthed in the house, and is connected to the earth block in the shed. Then by doing this 👆, I have effectively connected the 2 rods together. The one the house has, and runs through the armoured cable etc... and this new one by the shed. That's ok, yes?

2nd Earth Rod on TT System

There's a 4mm armoured cable coming from a 32a RCBO from within the house. Goes into a CU in the shed for a 32a ring and 6a lights. The 2nd earth rod is simply going to be hammered in to the ground and strapped to the frame. I know an earth rod can support a TN system, but not sure how that...

2nd Earth Rod on TT System

Hi all, My electrical installantion here in Cyprus is TT. As some are aware I have a metal framed shed outside and I wired it up for lights and sockets etc... it's earthed by adding a strap to the frame.. However, I have been thinking about ramming an earth rod near by and strapping a thick...

    Double slot RCBO's

Just a quick question, as I've got all you guys attention 😁 Just going through some of the stuff I jave here and noticed something, if you can shed some light on it for me. I have 2 dp rcbo's by 2 different manufacturers. One has the neutral to the right screw, the other has the neutral on the...

    Double slot RCBO's

With regard to that... i always heard that the reason we have ring circuits is to save on copper.. I don't get it, unless I really dont understand radial circuits. My understanding is, from the breaker you run a line into the room connect a socket, continue to another socket and when you get to...

    Double slot RCBO's

Oh! Well my house here has THREE CU's, 2 on the ground floor and one upstairs... I thought this was mad, as in the UK, no house I ever had, had more than 1, even if it was massive. So having three is a good thing?
