Cpc As Interlink On Smoke Alarm Circuit....what Would You Do?

Many thanks to all of you who have responded. I just wanted to update this post, for anyone who may be interested in this outcome. Went back today and persuaded the owner of the house to have the tails upgraded (now 25mm csa), and the replaced old fuse board with dual rcd. I have also...

Cpc As Interlink On Smoke Alarm Circuit....what Would You Do?

Testing a 3 story house today prior to a board change, found smoke alarm circuit has been installed in twin and earth, and cpc has been used as interlink. Due to return tomorrow morning to change the board, and not sure which option to take. Would you disconnect or record observation...

Is There A Requirement To Main Bond Back To Met In House?

Many thanks to the helpful replies To conclude,  Bonding back to MET is not required as continuity between garage roof steel structure is 67k ohms, so over the 22k or 23k ohms, and so proved to not be extraneous.

Is There A Requirement To Main Bond Back To Met In House?

Update, I have just received my 50 meter wander lead in the post (my 30 meter was too short), Continuity between MET and the steel roof frame is 67k ohms (67,000 ohms), IR at 500vdc was 02 M ohms, (20,000ohms) initially my Megger MFT1553 would give a reading of 0.00, but after three attempts I...

Is There A Requirement To Main Bond Back To Met In House?

Many thanks for your replies. I do not think the steel roof frame can be extraneous, it sits on top of concrete walls above head height and it does not go downwards to the ground/earth. Concrete as far as I am aware does not conduct 230v right? There are no metallic gas or water pipes entering...

Is There A Requirement To Main Bond Back To Met In House?

I have just replaced an old fuse board with a dual rcd unit in my house, all ways have additional RCD protection. The garage is supplied via 20A a radial circuit (installed 2.5mm t&e), cpc continuity, Zs and rcd opening times, etc are all fine. The garage roof trusses are steel, and linked...

Ok to install DP isolator external to RCBO enclosure in same cupboard?

Thanks EE, but no the space between the meter and gas pipe is about 260mm, and the space available for a new board to conform is approx 140mm. The cupboard cant be widened as its in an alcove between wall and chimney Havent had time to let the builder know yet, but am sure the cupboard height...

Ok to install DP isolator external to RCBO enclosure in same cupboard?

Thanks Noz for your helpful tip. Thinking more about this, am not going to find a new replacement consumer unit which measures less then 140mm for 6 x rcbo's and din mounted terminal/s. Going to get back to builder and suggest installing new board above existing cupboard, then no worries about...

Ok to install DP isolator external to RCBO enclosure in same cupboard?

I have been asked to replace an old fuse board in a domestic property, there is very little room in the electrical cupboard to fit a new board so that it is far enough (min 150mm) away from the gas meter/gas pipe work. I am thinking I will have to install the smallest (max width available...

    Interchangeable MCB'S RCD'S Etc ( What Fits? )

Hello Folks, Please can anyone tell me what SP MCB (if any) will fit in an old Dorman Smith (loadmaster) Series 15 3P board? A summation supply.

Ok, so I placed my clamp meter in position on the Friday eve, collected on Sunday eve, so monitored for 48 hours over a weekend when everyone was home. Max (peak) current draw was 24A. So, looks like it can go ahead, Batty - told him no brewing whilst having a sauna! Many thanks to all who...
