Thanks John for your help :) I understand that cable hasn't got a fixed rating which pretty much applies to cables around the whole electricity industry but when I said 40A cable I meant cable that will be able to handle the capacity that I want in the situation. It strickly will not be 40A...
You are right. I didn't come to the forum to learn everything there is to know in few hours. I came here so that someone can point me in the right direction so I can then go and do my own research and see what I can come up with and come back here and talk about it. This is how you learn. Its a...
Same could be said about everyone else here. My attitude was very much fine but guess what made it change?? All the replies from everyone else telling me that I have no competance or knowledge or anything else. At first I thought fair enough they don't know me so I can't expect them to know what...
Mate it works the other way round. When you understand/know how to deal with difficult thing than its easier to learn how to deal with easy stuff. I never said I don't know 230/400V systems. I know them very well up to the cut-out/isolator point. Anyways I don't see any point of replying to...
Are we seriously comparing a simple house wiring to the complexity of 132-400kV systems? Is what I am trying to do here really that much of a rocket science?
No shame in asking questions about something that is new to you. Just because I am an engineer does not mean I know everything about everything.I don't know what idea people have about electrical engineers but there is only so much that is taught in 3 years of university and believe me when I...
Thanks :)
lol! I have no intention of showing off who I am or what I do which is why I never mentioned any of this when I started this topic but I had no choice when everything I said got shot down like I am some school kid.
Anways the MCB are a lot cheaper than I thought they would be. 1-pole is really cheap but 3-pole is also shown below.

Answer to your questions is Clarke SE18C200ND Industrial Air Compressor (OL). I won't be using anything else at the same time.
Can someone please recommend websites where I can find parts of this job? It will actually make sense when I post all the parts required for the job here.
Yes, pretty much. Compressor is not something that I would be using everyday. It is more like something that will be used 10-20 times a year. I can run the extension lead safety to the garage because again the distance is minimum and it will only be for a very short period of time.
It could possibly be terminology difference between us. The reason I am here is because I know there are experts who are electricians and I wanted them to check what I am proposing is safe and right thing to do before I go and do it. I certainly did not come here to get mocked!
I am doing all...
