plastic back boxes (recessed) - approved?

Thanks folks. The CE mark is visible if you zoom in on the bottom-right of the top photo. It looks correct-ish, but if it was a grey market product, it could obviously be fake. I am definitely in two minds. I see some benefits.  Over here, with many back-boxes in damp solid walls, and/or with...

plastic back boxes (recessed) - approved?

We've just recently been able to get plastic back boxes here in Cyprus (they have been exclusively galvanized steel until now). Are these approved by BS7671? They have no BSBI marking; just 'CE AP3020'. There is no indication of the type of plastic; hence flammability, etc. is not apparent...

2-Pole Isolator Switch (Din Rail) Won't Stay Up

SLIPSHOD AND SLAPDASH,  That's an interesting angle! I have not heard of such a basis for charging. The electricity authority here in Cyprus sets a maximum current for a property, and that is reflected in the trip-current setting on the main breaker in the meter box (mine is 30A, 3-phase)...

2-Pole Isolator Switch (Din Rail) Won't Stay Up

ProDave, Thanks. I appreciate the cumulative loading issue, hence my writing: Also, they can have the cooker, hob, imm.htr on at the same time without tripping; and the other circuits serve only a few lower-power devices such as lights, TV, computer, etc. They have not tried switching...

2-Pole Isolator Switch (Din Rail) Won't Stay Up

Thank you again guys.     In my original post, I omitted info not pertinent to the basic question - as I am told posts that are too wordy can be a deterrent to viewers reading them. However, it sounds like you need that info now.     I was doing this as a DIY job just to help out friends before...

2-Pole Isolator Switch (Din Rail) Won't Stay Up

Thank you guys. Teach me for going into my local electrical store and asking for an isolator! Didn't help that the old device was a 2-pole MCB, too. Hence I was inappropriately happy that the symbol on the new one was the same as on the old one. The original one was fitted sometime in the...

2-Pole Isolator Switch (Din Rail) Won't Stay Up

Thank you all for chipping in. It is a manual isolator, not an RCD/RCCB/RCBO. Like some of you, I thought an isolator could not trip itself. But that is wrong. Isolators (at least these sorts of DIN rail ones) cannot trip themselves electrically, but they can trip themselves thermally. These...

2-Pole Isolator Switch (Din Rail) Won't Stay Up

An unremarkable CU (2-pole isolator and a collection of MCBs, all superficially in decent condition). What might cause the 2-pole isolator switch not to stay up, or to flick itself off apparently at random? It used to go for weeks without a problem, then become prone to flick off. No...
