Started a volountary work-experience as mate, what's the next stage ?

Hi, I've currently started to work (voluntary) as an electrician's mate to get some priceless work experience. I've got a HND in electrical Eng. which included number of aspects of electrical installation and work with BS7671. However I don't have any official certificates and thus what would...

Trying to fight for my first work experience - what do I need ?

Hello, I'm currently a student of Electrical Power Engineering and I'm trying to stop wasting useful time by working over summer in electrical-related role. I'm not sure if this information is relevant but I have HND in Electrical Engineering if this will legaly help me avoid some of the tests...

    Thermostat connection.

I will not install it myself. I'm just trying to educate myself with electrical aspects as it is part of my study course (EPE) so it can help a bit. What I found was there is no Neutral connection in the boiler, can I connect a thermostat's neutral with respect to earth ?

    Thermostat connection.

Ok, this cleared up some things. What is a connection '2' or 'Satisfied' do ?

    Thermostat connection.

Hi and happy new year ;) So I bought this mechanical-thermostat and it has 4 connection points, but my boiler allows only for 2 connections (or only live conductor)... I've connected 0.6mm to point 1 and 3 on thermostat, but because I'm doing it for the first time is it right ? Wiring...

    Lighting ccts/ total power demand.

how about a lighting cct, the total length for a 5.6A with 10A mcb (10A due to inrush currents) is 200m. I've used a radial calculation formula: max. cable length = (6.9 x 1000)/(average current x mV/A/m x Ct) 6.9 is the 3% volt drop from 230V supply Average current = 2.8A mV/A/m is 29 for...

    Lighting ccts/ total power demand.

Thank you, that's the answer I was looking for. About the demand I will simpy apply it at the end of the report with my diveres cooker cct value.

    Lighting ccts/ total power demand.

Hi, I'm at the final stage of my coursework and there is a few things which I'm trying to clarify i.e. 100m2 is the total area of the rural-premises. I've used a 1-phase TN-C-S (TT was recommended but the choice of earthing system is not that important). My main lighting circuit has 160m...

Socket cct, what do you think ?

Thanks a lot, I had no idea that this routing would be that bad, but I had a critical look at everything again and here is what I came up with: - The cables will go under-floor as it was recommended - Few new radial cct - Kitchen will be the main connecting point for all ccts - More...

Socket cct, what do you think ?

Hi, my very first design (part of coursework) but I think it went very good. I will finish lighting cct and showers once I get some feedback on sockets. Ground floor has concrete walls and upper is a plaster-ish wall. (correct link) Also, how do you determine what power will be consumed by...

    Electrical design - worked examples

Hello, I would like to know if there are worked examples or books which explain step-by-step of how to design an electrical installation. I'm more of a practitioner (but I have the basic knowledge on the subject). Thanks, Tom.
