Purchasing my first MFT, need some advice please;)

Sorry Admin, I'm going to give this tester a chance. Won't be auctioning it. Hey AndyC, are you saying that you're offering it to me?? Really though, a decent Stabila is something that will do me good. Every CK pocket level that my colleagues buy always have the magnets falling out. I am more...

Excellent, so I really am sorted with tools:) Although, I really need to get a decent metal pocket level rather than this plastic CK one. Payday Friday:) Thanks a lot for your help guys. Gnight.

"the 1651/1652 does measure earth resistance. just use the earth loop setting" Just read this:) I just looked at the Fluke 1650 series features chart, and it didn't have Earth Resistance checked. So I presumed that it didn't do it.

"I have a fluke 1652 but I think there is a problem with the leads on this as it does not seem to zero." I think I might have the same problem. I followed the instructions to zero the leads and it just gives me a resistance of the leads I think. Don't know if this means it will remember to take...

Haha! Apparently, the new features over the old one are listed here: http://www.fluke.co.uk/comx/show_product.aspx?pid=38434&product=INS&type=2&locale=uken If sold on eBay and bought the new model, I'd be looking at losing at least

Purchasing my first MFT, need some advice please;)

Sell it 'remaining warranty'? You mean send the warranty with it? And then send the receipt if they require it? An idea, I suppose. But that might put off the potential buyer. I wonder. Maybe I don't need to mention a receipt not being included, and should just deal with the problem if and when...

Purchasing my first MFT, need some advice please;)

Yeah, seems about right. Although, I can see selling this item on eBay being a hassle. Someone would want a return's policy and even though I'm sure it's in working condition (it's got to be if I just recently bought it/ I hope), I wouldn't know how to check if a reported defect was there or not...

Purchasing my first MFT, need some advice please;)

Yes, no point in sending back the faulty part. 1 question though. Is it illegal to sell it on? Or am I wrong? I'd want Fluke to know as little as possible about me. Once I've sold it I'd want that to be the end of it, if you understand.

Suppose they claimed on the warranty, how would Fluke pay them back? Or would they send them a replacement? The receipt I have is stapled onto an invoice, which has MY address. Do I keep the invoice then, and only pass on the receipt? Also, I should point out that I purchased this as part of...

Purchasing my first MFT, need some advice please;)

Can you believe it? I bought the Fluke 1652 at Christmas and now want to sell it on now the new 1650B series have come out. Does anyone know whether the warranty would be void if I sold it on? I want to put it on eBay but can I sell it as 'new'? It has only been opened once. Thanks for any help...

Purchasing my first MFT, need some advice please;)

Thanks John. If I go for this Fluke, I'm going to try out the leads that come with it first, then look for replacements if there is. It's worth noting that my colleague who has a 1652, has Robin leads in the box, not the ones that seem to come it when new. So maybe there's something in it? I...

Purchasing my first MFT, need some advice please;)

The Metrel looks like it has everything. I suppose the Fluke 1653 has many features aswell but although I haven't been given a budget, I don't want to spend on MFT features that I'm not likely to use. I think the features of the Fluke 1652 and KT64 are spot on for where I'm going to be working...

Purchasing my first MFT, need some advice please;)

Hello sparks. I'm looking at ordering my first MFT. It's still early days as a 2nd year apprentice, but I'm looking to practice rigging up some circuits in my Dad's garage and test them (sad I know). It's mainly to get familiar to the testing process and to see how the theory proves itself in...

Please, need advice on what testing equipment I should be looking at...

Well, actually the jacket's a 3-layer jacket and there's more to Gore-Tex. The membrane is expanded PTFE (waterproof and not vapour proof, so breathable). Anyway, I do have a Gore-Tex shell jacket, so really I could get away with using that over a fleece or tough work jacket. But it's the...

To be honest, the only workwear brands I've seen advertised on the internet so far were Snickers, ****ies, Helly Hansen, Blaklader, ProJob, Caterpillar and so on. Would any of these stand out over any of the others, in terms of great quality at the most competitive pricing? I was shocked to see...

Thanks Apache, and Batty. I think I'm going to have to read into this more. No good talking about getting an MFT unless I know how to test, lol! But at least I know now some pros and cons of different testing equipment:) When I'm more familiar with testing is probably a better time to make a...

So does the Fluke do all the tests you previously mentioned? - "Continuity of earth conductors & ring circuits with a Low resistance Ohm meter Insulation Resistance. Earth loop impedance. Prospective fault current. RCD operating times. If 3-phase working Phase rotation." And is Phase...

Haha! Hello again. To Special Location - "A clamp meter just loops around the conductor you are reading without breaking into the circuit, but must only loop around the one conductor, NOT both e.g. a Twin & earth cable." I do a lot of T&E, lol! So, only singles then? And meter tails...
