Is My Tester Faulty Or Me

Regardless, as I read it, it's acceptable to test at a socket outlet.

Is My Tester Faulty Or Me

I don't dispute that testing at the board is the easiest, I just dispute that you can't, or it is wrong to test at a socket. It really doesn't make any difference at all to the trip times. Also you could read convenient as not having to disassemble the cu Doc. As always it's how the individual...

Is My Tester Faulty Or Me

Give me one good solid reason why it would make 1 iota of difference where the rcd was tested from if the loads are disconnected. Also I'm pretty sure the niceic guides are credible sources of information

Is My Tester Faulty Or Me

Well Doc we have conflicting information, as I'm currently looking at an niceic testing and inspection guide and it clearly says ' the connection can be made at any convenient point in the circuit, such as a socket outlet or light fitting' I know the niceic guides aren't related to bs7671 as...

Is My Tester Faulty Or Me

I'm using a megger 1502, why would the tester need a neutral to test the rcd ? You only need to create a leakage of 30 ma live to earth to create an balance. Also best practice only says to disconnect loads, a circuit isn't a load as it doesn't pull any current, it's fine to test an outlet.

Is My Tester Faulty Or Me

I normally test the rcd at a socket, but if you do test an rcd at the cu ( like it sounds that you are) i only test between live and earth ? No need to use 3 probes. Try just using the 2. Testing at a socket is much easier - you only have to disconnect loads attached to a circuit, you don't...

    Unfortunately Down Hill

Any news on when we might have the iPhone app up and running, i hardly ever get a chance to log in now, this is my first visit since the change over, the app is just so much more convenient, who uses pc's these days ! The place has gone backwards with the app. If not a new app, how about a...

iPad wifi sync with iTunes on win xp

Have you set up a iCloud account ? Rather than sync to your pc, where u have to be in range of your wifi, you can back up anywhere using iCloud, providing you have 3G. There is no real need to sync to your pc anymore, unless you have just ripped a whole lot of CDs in which case you would want to...

    Kitchen Stereo

Stop fighting it and just buy an iPod! Download all your music files (regardless of the format), get a nice fancy media docking station and put it where your cd collection used to be lol any physical data storage is about as out of date as vinyl these days and a waste of money!

    new job

Ha that's funny Matty Read my comment in context, why would he say ' remember all joints have to be accessible, how do you do that in a downstairs flat' he was hardly talking about ceiling roses and socket outlets. In fact I don't know what he's on about,

    Electricians tools

I disagree, a wall is not going to give u enough potential difference to light a neon, if it did then I could shove my testers on the same wall and get a reading of the voltage. I'm not 100% sure but don't you need a difference of 90v to light a neon ?

    Electricians tools

Hang on a minute.... If you have no earth or neutral, how would u test with a neon screwdriver ? You need to be a reasonable earth for the neon to light, so if your stood on a wooden floor or wear rubber boots prodave has the same problem as someone with a set of multitesters. I will admit I...

    new job

What do you mean you use cupboards for switches ? And if its a rewire, why on earth would you have to have any joints , accessible or not ?!

    PVC T/E feeding Consumer Units

Don't think so, it depends on your earthing system. If its Tncs you will need a minimum of 10. If its tns you may be able to use the 6mm in the t+e. you need to check using the adiabatic table.

    PVC T/E feeding Consumer Units

    The earth in a 16mm t+e isn't 10mm. It's 6mm

    plc

Where did you use them Dave? I've seen the complexity of the stuff they can handle, and it looks quite challenging. Is It something someone who is smart enough could just pick up by just by messing around with one? I like playing around with this kind of stuff, I think it's the direction I would...

Is it worth buying one and having a play, and if it is whats a good make to use ? Or is there any college courses that are any good? I've tried a few sims online but they all...
