    RCD tripping

Gonna be assuming its the neutrals in other circuits creating a parallel path to earth and unbalancing the total neutral current. A new USB socket has been fitted upstairs by the owner.  Let's see what a few tests reveal.  Will post back what I find.  Have a a great weekend all 👍🏻

    Homeplug internet or similar

Hi Guys. I'm looking to find an alternative to the Homeplug internet concept where power cables are used as an Internet data network. Overlaying the data frequency as well as powering AC sockets for domestic use. If anyone can point me in the right direction.  Thanks in advance

    Anyone know what this is?

No other batteries in the building I can find other than in the light fittings.  Feed from main panel and a 6mm 3 phase cable coming into this box that goes to an isolator and a meter with small service head.  Lights seem even to be fed from 'alternative' source as when I power down the feed...

    Anyone know what this is?

It seems to be linked to the lighting circuit board and a 'change over' supply on the main board. Inside the box are 2 3-phase contactors and also what looks like a mini MCB board. MCB's aren't switchable and I can see another item that does a variable voltage function.  When I turn off the...

    Anyone know what this is?

I have a large control box in a meter room of an apartment block that's linked to a service head and a meter.  The control box has "primary" and 'secondary' lights and 'healthy supply' lights. Only 2 blocks out of over 20 have this set up. would anyone know what this control box is for? ...

Ok. So would I be right in saying... Trace back to where it's been 'borrowed' - remove it and run a neutral from a downstairs light (hallway) Has anyone got a 'best practise' method they use?

If some could explain a 'borrowed neutral' or live, that would be great

I know exactly how to do 2 way lighting but this was something I'd not seen before. Previous owner was 'old timer' sparkie dodging the devil by the sounds of it. I'll carry on doing my 'safe' electrics the way I know how.  Very quick responses so will be back if I need more help.  Thanks...

Thanks for the reply.  The house is old and has just been 'renovated' not by doing a rewire so client doesn't want new wires in so have to work with what I have.  All i I have is one strand of cable coming from ceiling rose (could be perm live) and twin+e going down to hall switch.  Any my...
