    down sized cables

I have just disconnected a 3p compressor on a 16mm armoured but inside the isolator each phase was on connectors then dropped to 2.5mm And connected.looks like they struggled to terminate. Is this just lazy and bad practise or dangerous ,32amp compresser.

    Contactor problem

And I am admitting this was a ridiculous thing to post. Exactly  retractive centre off bias, the plant room is 20 years old and it is bad design, especially if people are working on Ahu or pumps as you say.

    Contactor problem

Yeah I agree, my fault trying to rush things doesn't help. I will go through it and eliminate possible issues one step at a time. How would anyone on a forum be able to tell if anything is faulty.

    Contactor problem

All you had to do was ask what contactor it is and I would comment. I understand your attitude but I'm not trying to cut corners or not give enough information on here. So I apologise for not being clear and not providing enough info. I thought providing the fault and general operation of the...

    Contactor problem

The switch operates the contactor which pulls in banks of lights localised to each switch. To save energy the timer kills the lights so they can't be left on all night or over a weekend. If your in the room working and the lights go out you just use the switch again. Each switch is 2 gang...

    Contactor problem

I was a house basher so industrial was never really something I did. You dont tend to install contactors in domestic properties. However I appreciate the negativity nothing like the internet for getting knocked down and put down. Always cheers me up and makes me glad I asked for help on a forum...

    Contactor problem

No its a whole bank that won't switch on as normal. The lights that are off will all come on when you reset the contactors feed but not with any light switch. 3 switches in the room all live and tested.

    Contactor problem

Yes time delay  next to the contactors to kill the lights. I have adjusted these after reseting the contactors breaker and they do operate correctly. No overload trip. One contactor is working and some lights are on the 2nd contactor is not operating unless you turn the breaker to the contactor...

    Contactor problem

A bank of light's is out in a plant room. The switches are not pulling in one out of 2 contactors. However if you kill the supply to the contactors and reinstate the bank of light come back on and time out depending on the setting. I can't get the contactor to operate as usual with the...

Outside light fault from switch fused spur

Outside light fault from switch fused spur

Your all welcome to slate me and take the piss. I simply came for advice before I went back to the job. I'm sure it's simple just the lamp or the setting. Not once did I ask if I had connected the cables correctly or say I put the live in the earth or something daft. Just wanted ideas to help...

Outside light fault from switch fused spur

This is exactly what I have done, fed a switched fused spur, then on the load side  of the spur fed the outside light. The outside light doesn't work. I'm just wondering if I did something wrong or the fitting is faulty just a cheap wickes light the customer bought. The customer doesn't want the...

Outside light fault from switch fused spur

For some reason  yes customer only wants it on a few nights a week, not every night. So I thought he could turn the switch spur off and it would not work. Override basically. The light is not working at all though.

Outside light fault from switch fused spur

Sorry of course L N E are a permanent supply but usually with a sensor is there not a L1 so 4 core cable ? This is a security light with motion sensor only connection is Live neutral earth. I thought the load side of the switch spur would simply make the light work when switched on and disabled...
