Just checked fitting again......terminal block has L, N and E.......240v into fitting from switch yet no power to lamp holder........

Twin and Earth into fitting which has 4 terminals.....

Very true! theres 240v drop between red and black.......I'm still non the wiser on whether the fitting is suitable

It's a black straight from the switch, assume neutral

That sounded like it fixed the problem.......the switch is on, power to the fitting but it's still dead......

Changing an outdoor porch light which is switched from inside the property to a PIR light. The mains supply is twin and Earth, the terminal inside the PIR light has 4 terminals; live, neutral, Earth and X......is the light suitable for installation?
