    mem 2000 bs3871 50amp breaker

I've used them before with no probems at all. Can be a little tight if you get the 'pod' attachment to make it an rcbo but even then they do fit ok.

    current carrying capacity

Not at the moment, but it will be when I go back. There were a few more serious matters that needed putting right first. I will be fitting new 10mm bonding as that also seems to have been overlooked, so I will run an extra 10mm to the sub board to give a good CPC. Complete mess of an...

    current carrying capacity

Thanks. All down to cost, as usual, so I wont be able to replace the cable. Fully finished decorated house in serious need of a rewire that wont get done. Just trying to make the worst bits a bit better.

    current carrying capacity

ok, maybe I asked the question a little too quickly. The armoured cable in question is supplying a sub board in an extension of a house. The board feeds the kitchen ring, cooker, shower and lighting circuits. It currently has no overload protection, just connected with henleys to the incoming...

    current carrying capacity

Hi, quick question. 4 core 4mm armoured will carry around 30 amps. What will it carry if the cores are doubled up? I'm not planning on doing this by the way, it's installed already in a house I'm testing. Thanks.

    Interchangeable MCB'S RCD'S Etc ( What Fits? )

Denmans basics range is control gear, probably cheaper to fit the same than replace with another brand. Think proteus and cfl are about the same if i remember right.

    fluke 1652 fault

Well, it clunks away like my old van used to, so it seems that it is the expensive version. Ah well. Not under warranty either, I've had it for more than 3 years. Didn't have time to ring Flukes service people today, too busy. Reading over one of the previous threads on Fluke repairs, you have...

    fluke 1652 fault

Test kit packed in today, showing 'Error Code 1'. After a quick browse on the internet it seems that there could be a problem with the board and I'm looking at a

    Interchangeable MCB'S RCD'S Etc ( What Fits? )

Have used these 'pods' in the past on MEM 2000 domestic boards. They clip onto the top of the MCB. http://www.neweysonline.co.uk/mem-rcbo-pod-6ka-30ma-trip-250v-ac-single-pole/1050088742/ProductInformation.raction

    cold showers

Hi everyone, thanks for the quick replies. Not really what I was hoping for though, suppose the right advice never is though eh. I installed the electric shower rather than a mixer off the combi so that if the combi failed we could still get a shower/if the shower failed we can still use the...

    cold showers

Just after a bit of advice please. Installed an electric shower in the bathroom at home. Old Victorian terraced house and when the neighbours turn on a tap/get a shower, the water pressure in my house drops to the extent that the shower temperature fluctuates between luke warm and bl**dy...

    2330 L3 & 17th Ed

I can only speak from personal experience here, but when you study for the 2381 you actually learn how the different sections of the regs overlap and affect each other, rather than just being kind of force fed the relevant regs to get you through to the end of the course with photo-copied...

    2391-20

Hi all. Just after some advice really. I'm pretty much a 'house basher'. No experience with industrial and very limited commercial. I have passed the 2330, 2381 and 2391-10 and have a pretty good practical knowledge of the regs and testing/fault finding as it applies to domestic installations...

    2 Gang 2 Way Switching

I might be wrong; but it sounds like one of those should be just a one gang with only the first light being switched two-way, lives looped at the switch.

how long to chase in a socket?

Alright mate. Never really had anything to say before. Good place for picking up tips from others though, I've learned a lot off here. Thanks.

how long to chase in a socket?

Unless you hit an engineering brick at the wrong angle, you can get months out of a comb of teeth. Replacements only cost around 40p and they are double-headed too.

how long to chase in a socket?

If you have got chasing to do, a real necessity is a scutch chisel. Fly through brick or bonding much faster than a bolster and if you have only got 1 box or chase to do, it's easier than getting the sds out of the van...
