    Metallic containment

Thanks for the thoughts guys. Not certain which way we'll go on this yet. Regards Martin

    Metallic containment

Hi Rob No it's not domestic, but it is a listed building that has public access. I think that in normal operation clipped direct may well be satisfactory, although visually horrible. My concern is more containment under fault conditions which may go some way to minimise damage if overheating...

    Metallic containment

Gents You'll be pleased to know this is not about Amd3 CUs, but I would value your opinions. I was called out to a failure at the weekend, a 16A Ceeform socket was dead. The location is a substantial wooden framed and clad building, in which is an incoming SWA that feeds into an isolator that...

    Three Phase Compressor Set

Thanks for the thoughts. I have a Megger phase rotation meter but for obscure reasons, old age probably, I didn't associate the reading with the likely direction of the motor. I'll know better next time. BTW is there a defined standard in the UK for the supply of three phases, ie will RYB or...

    Three Phase Compressor Set

Hi folks Got a contract this week to install a supply for a three phase compressor, nothing unusual or difficult. The comp set has input terminals marked U,V,W which to my mind required L1,L2,L3 respectively but when it was switched on the motor rotated in the wrong direction. Swapping L2 and...

    110V Cte Transformer

Hi Sidewinder "Then I have to overcome getting MCCB's for the old MEM panel board, they are a type which seem to be obsolete!" I'm in the middle of a job that needed MCCBs for a MEM2 board. I have it direct from Eaton technical that they are about 12 years obsolete so your only chance is...

    Extending Large Csa Cables

Thanks for all the thoughts, I think I'll stick to my original plan. There isn't space for a resin joint, which within the confines of the board is a bit OTT IMHO. I appreciate in the scheme of things that 25mm isn't big, but when your getting on a bit! This all came about as a result of the...

    Extending Large Csa Cables

Hi guys I need to extend the four cores of a 25mm SWA inside a new board. I was thinking of butt splicing and insulating with heatshrink. Anyone got a better idea that this? Regards Martin

    Isolator Or Not

Thanks guys for your thoughts, some valid points made so isolator it is. For the record the earthing is TNS, but I'm at a loss to understand what this has to do with a neutral, it would be an unusual 3 phase motor that needed one, but I do understand the thinking. Regards Martin

    Isolator Or Not

I am fitting a TP board in a small tankhouse. One of the circuits is a pump set with a 2.2kW 3ph motor and a DOL starter. The board, starter, and motor are in close proximity. My question is would you fit a separate isolator or rely on isolation via the mcb for maintenance? Regards Martin
