Probably one of those 'well if you just close it then we won't have this issue again will we' type things. I can sort of see their point. Not necessarily, it depends what is using it. That's not how it works. Take for instance you browser, it connects to websites on port 80. If you block port 80 outbound then it just doesn't work, it won't just use another port as there would be nothing the other end to connect to. Web servers are listening on port 80. Port 22 is SSH, so it is likely something is trying to set up a remote secure tunnel somewhere. If you blocked port 22 it wouldn't communicate on another port, it would just try to connect to port 22, get blocked at the firewall and timeout/fail. As I have said before, it really isn't there problem. You have gone to site, and clearly know a bit about computers but not enough to actually do anything useful or solve the problem. From Zens PoV your lack of ability isn't their problem. I still don't see what your issue is, you are saying that no-one else that this bloke has had out knows what they are doing, and neither do you. Not being offensive or argumentative about it, but you haven't solved the problem or even identified what the issue is.
