Just had a call from my chippy mate who's an absolute Luddite tbh. His wife (ditto the Luddite bit) took a call from an Indian sounding chap called "Wayne" at Microsoft. Wayne stated on the lines that their "IP address had been used abroad" etc. Mate said they tried to get into his pc using Teamviewer but apparently couldn't - watch this space I suppose to see if they did! Ended up with Wayne getting irate and putting his "supervisor". Was on the phone for an hour! Good chance I reckon that they got in but said they hadn't. Got to laugh as the pc is running Zorin/Ubuntu so that might be the saving grace if the scammer was directing my mate expecting him to be on a Windoze pc. My mate's comment tbh sums it up. There he is asking my advice as to whether it's a scam or not still wanting to believe that the internet is powered by magic and run by nice people who sit there looking to see if you've got a problem - "Cos they can tell can't they if your computers running slow?". Him/his missus have given their bank details away TWICE over the phone FFS!
