We had a Honewell 3 port valve operating for 24 years... never replaced anything on it....

Back on topic...

A quick daft question...

On this heating system has it been drained recently???

any air pockets not fully bled out????

:C
I've seen that ball valve on a header tank all seized up with an open topped header tank in a (hot) loft. Eventually the amount of water in the system decreases (takes a while) as it's not being topped up and obviously air locks form. Assume it's a gas boiler don't some of them sense if the water in the system is low and shut down?

isnt the orange the fire cable?

if so then it has to have 230v on it for the boiler to fire.

yep, just had a look, orange is deffo the firing signal, so if you are not getting 230v on the orange then you need to check what voltage you are getting into the valve.

if you are getting 230v in and only 60v out then its an internal valve problem, but Im thinking you are not getting 230v in, bad joint somewhere perhaps breaking down under load after a while?

its not the valve as we replaced it with a new one

the boiler fires up ok with the hot water

i still want to go back and start over

remove wall stat circuit and confirm the hot water does everything correctly

link out wall stat (programmer to white cable) and see what happens

still think there is a problem from first install

Did the whole valve get replaced though? Or just the motorised head?

If the valve itself is jammed then you will not get the outputs you expect.

Fallen fowl of that one before. DOH
