Hi,

Just added a lighting circuit. Tested everything and all results fine.

I then added a dimmer to control the lighting and I get a buzzing from the mcb.

Is this due to the bulbs not designed to be dimmable, as when adjusting the dimmer the lights flicker. When on Full lights are fine and no buzzing.

Hi Rob and Lurch ,

No not led.

The lights are existing, I had to bring a new circuit into the mix to the switch as the customer had attempted to wire it.

I was unaware the lights wasn't dimmable,  customer purchased everything.

They are changing the lamps,  I informed them I needed to change the dimmer to a switch but they wanted to change the lamps instead of messing with the switch.

I have had a dimmer make a breaker slightly buzz at my own home for 15 years now. Its a two way circuit and the other switch also buzzes. The switch controlled 8 50w 12v halogens with electronic transformers. I swapped the breaker, dimmer and switch  but no difference. I now have 4.5w LED lamps fitted and the slight buzz is still there.
