Immersion heaters?

Good shout, but they wouldn’t be on all the time unless the taps are running the hot water away , but a few heaters, and immersion would quickly add up ....

i do think working out what the useage split split is between the house and the businesses would help immensely and ensure the costs are paid correctly too

Silverline  Tools do a clamp meter for about £16   I think we paid .     It's readings match our £80  clamp   so  we carry the Silverline in the van  .

As Apache said a basic clamp meter can be purchased for around £16.   https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/TMCMT01.html   In the days when Maplin were still in business they used to stock UNI-T meters,  https://www.amazon.co.uk/Voltage-Current-Digital-Multimeter-Handheld/dp/B01MD0Z4UX/ref=sr_1_14?   Again for less than £20, not a bad item for the price, reasonable build quality, possibly similar to the Silverline item Evans referred to. These types of meters are not much good for reading low value, (milliamp), leakage currents, but for general 1Amp and higher values will give you a rough idea of how much current is flowing down a conductor. Just clamp the spring loaded jaws around one of the individual meter tails and set it to the amps scale to see what's being consumed.  (No need to disconnect any wires or connect any probes onto any live conductors.)

OK couple of points:-

1/ check the bills are not estimated / on a stupidly high tariff

2/ check kids/ daughter aren't using tumble driers all day long.

3/ Easy to check solar system, push button on front and it should show you the days output, and possibly month, year etc etc. Make sure panels are clean.

4/ this is the output from one of my 5.3 kWp systems.
