Checking a ring circuit today before I started any work on it r1 =.54 rN=.54 r2=345 ohms could this be a lose connection ? Is it best to use a wander lead at each socket cpc to cu to find the fault.I think some diy person has put a joint box with a lose connection

Sounds like a break in the cpc, 345 ohm very high suggests high resistence earth path via earthy building fabric etc.

various ways to locate break, disconnect all conductors at CU, put L to CPC short on one leg of Ring and check at each socket for continuity until you find it, often a CPC out on the back of a socket.

yes, wander lead to each socket, and investigate the 2 highest reading sockets and link inbetween.
