hello everyone, just posting to see what you might suggest that we do.

we got in touch with a well known national PV provider, specced up a 5kw system which includes a storage battery.
the intention was to install the PV panels onto a new build annexe, we planned to build, as our house has a very shallow pitch roof and not well positioned eg pointing south

we paid a deposit, and expected to get the annexe built over about 6-9 months

the company we used decided to send us everything (all the panels, inverter, battery, rails, fixings etc), unexpectedly and before we even began building the annexe
we called them and our contact said there was no point sending everything back, so just to keep everything safe until needed

I should point out that this company are hopelessly disorganised - most calls and emails dont get answered, they never keep to deadlines. They even sent a scaffolding crew twice, when the annexe hadnt even begun getting built. To be fair they did manage to get the DNO acceptance on our behalf.

Fast forward to the present time, the contractor who would build the annexe apologised to us but had to back out. Multiple new quotes to build the annexe were hugely more expensive, 50% or more. In the intervening months everything seems to have become more expensive. This has made the annexe unaffordable for us.

We contacted the PV company and explained that there would not be an annexe. We asked if we can use a ground mount system instead.
Here is the problem we are facing - the PV company refuse to fit the panels on a ground mount, on the basis that none are MCS certified.
We explained that we're not interested in MCD certification as we dont plan to use the Feed in Tariff. We'd be happy to sign any disclaimer to this effect.

However they are not budging. One of the main issues is that they are massively busy with orders and demand at the moment.
So communications are very slow and I imagine that they are not motivated to sort out this problem when they can cherry pick "normal" clients who just want PV on their rooftops.

We would rather not send the kit back. Any new orders, or going with a different provider now would mean many months of delay.
It's better if just buy the kit as a stand-alone kit from them, and we go our separate ways.
Getting a ground mount built isnt that hard, but how hard is it to get an independent PV fitter to finish the job?

sorry for the long post, but what would you do?
tnx

You could try contacting local electrical wholesalers to see if they know of any unregistered installers. Many, like myself, left MCS years ago when the FiT was removed.
