The Metering Sevices company that does most of the work in the West Midlands now contracts to whoever supplies the leckie in South Wales , the foreman /supervisor lives 4 doors up the road from me !!!

Thanks Sidey, it all seems daft to me , you'd think they would set up a depot in S.Wales

this lot even travel to London to fit meters .

The DNO here may be sold off yet again. A strange business , the original DNO was Midlands Electricity Board, (MEB) privatised into Midlands Electricity and sold off the metering section, sold off to GPU ( American Company I think) who closed some depots, they sold to Aquilla (American ) who closed even more depots and sold to E-on .

The word on the street is that now the older parts of the cable network are rotting away it will be sold off again before that issue has to be tackled.

they probably took the grant to fix the cables, then sold it before fixing it
