Hi all,

A cohort of mine has been estimating for a job that is installing a 3-phase supply to a passenger lift - I looked at his copy of the manufacturers instructions and they say the rated output motor is 4.60kw.

I don't have a lot experience with 3-phase or lifts which is why i have volunteered a pair of hands to help.

So my query is - 4.60kw seems small for a lift motor to me ??

Does anyone have any advice or tips?

The job as far as I am aware is to fit a supply only! The lift is being installed by specialists.

Thanks muchly

Yes that is the usual requirements for lift supplies, because they are outside of BS7671 all you do is present a supply to the shaft, normally the instructions will tell you how this supply should be terminated, the last one I did was about 4 years ago and was just a 3 phase 32 amp commando socket. I never got to see how they then connected up their part but never heard anything from them so my part must have been OK.

there mostly counter balance things, so there isnt usually a great deal of weight to actually lift. so 4.6KW sound reasonable. unless its a 50+ passenger lift going up 100 floors, then it may need a little more power

do the lift manufacturer . supplier say anything else about the wiring required? breaker size, min CSA or anything?

Hi all

The Manufacturer is Schindler the model is a 3300-

On the spec - verbatim

400v 3 Phase +E+N 50Hz, to be terminated by others on top floor.
