This is the strategy first introduced in the 80’s after Thatcher promoted free marketing and advertising. Remember the Double glazing salesman sold you something you didn’t really need? 

Its easy to say no

theres one local sparky company giving out C2’s for all plastic CUs they inspect - that I believe needs to be brought to a halt

There is a dividing line somewhere between free marketing and downright deceptive "advice" from a national company who many of the public consider expert in the industry.

And yes, the present electrical inspection system does appear open to abuse from those intent on work creation.

Agree  100% it does, but it won't 

the likes of NICEIC/ELECSA/NAPIt/ECA do not give a flying about STandards and integrity, only profit
