Yes I do notch them on first fix or mark them with a sharpie. I think the indians up to no good.

i did the same thing!

Why not use identification letters and numbers to the following -

BR1 = Brown phase - MCB number 1

BL1 = Black phase MBC number 1

GR1 = Grey phase MCB number 1

BR2, BL2, GR2 for MCB number 2 - etc

I personally just connect to the corresponding earth - neutral bar, but if they needed marking then this would be the way i would do it

for 3 phase, i mark the circuits as 1-1, 1-2 etc (first number way, second number phase)
