Hi,

What testing do people do on ring circuits for a PIR?

All three continuity tests (end to end, L-N figure of 8, L-CPC figure of eight)?

Zs measured or Zs calculated from R1+R2?

Thanks

Mark

If you do the figure of 8s then you shouldn't need to do the end to ends.

To fill out the test sheet, you only need the L+E figure of 8.

You can just take your r2 reading and enter that on you cert.

Won't confirm continuity of the live.

If you do the figure of 8 for live and earth, and an end to end for the neutral, you will then have done your R1+R2 and continuity.

Then you do the IR test.

I was thinking of testing end to end then take the R2. Might be too much trouble to identify the legs of the ring.

a nice tip for everyone. If you are doing tests on a ring cct with 2.5 live and 1.5cpc, then when you get your max R1R2. You can multiply this number by 1.5 to get r1(continuity) and multiply by 1.67(as you all will know) to get your r2 (estimated or have'nt got time)readings;)

For rings, I test at the CU and do R1, which gets a tick in the box, Rn, which also gets a tick, and R2, which gets recorded. I also do a quick x 1.66 as a cross check.

I've never had a figure that raises my eyebrows
