Most shop car parks you're limited to a couple of hours free parking after which you're fined, but who enforces that I don't know.

Unenforceable in Scotland, they will send you a fine notification but unless it is from the local authority or Police, you just ignore it. There is certain exceptions where people have taken the pi$$ and ended up prosecuted through the courts, but 999/1000 you ain’t getting prosecuted.

Now I am sure there is something else that doesn’t apply in Scotland 😀😀 mmmm what it is😀

I think its unenforceable in England too as its a civil matter. They can't "FINE" you, they can only present you with a bill for having provided you with parking space and ultimately take you to court if you don't pay up,

However,  I believe the efforts to get you to pay can be very intimidating.  It's not the shop you are dealing with but a company who specialise in "parking management" on the shop's behalf.

Haven't tried it myself; just what I've read.

My personal view is that it is totally wrong that the  DVLA sell your personal details to these companies.

What do they teach on these "OLEV Qualification courses"?  Doesn't look like they cover supply types or earthing
If it is run the same way as a lot courses these days then it will be a day or two ploughing through past question papers at the end you can pass the exam but you have actually learnt ..............!!!!

it's a bit more complicated than that, and the law was changed  afew years ago which makes it harder to avoid paying. The whole thing revolves around 'fair recompense' . Where a parking company is issueing invoices , legally it's not a fine, they have to demonstrate that money demanded is fair recompense for their loss of earnings. Now, where there is paid for parking at say £1 and hour, using a parking space and not paying for it, or returning late cannot be demonstrated to merit £70 or whatever the invoice is they issue, as that isn't a fair loss of earnings to the company - you have to send a letter arguing the point, which can be found on-line. However, where you have outstayed the free parking limit, then a judgement was made a few years ago that the company has no other income for running said free parking scheme, so large invoice can be justified. Again look on-line as I havn't looked into this for years.

There is a new campaign that says if you stick a note in your car window saying you refuse to accept the terms of said parking restrictions or any implied contracts, that any invoice issued is null and void. This campaign is ongoing and I think is called SAID - be damned if I can find a link.

Excatly

the annoying bit is I am not OLEV, so my lad won't get the grant ( actually not really an issue as his car charger isn't on the list ) BUT some muppet can do a quick course and in effect be more "qualified" than I am BUT in effect NOT know what he is doing!   What do they teach on these "OLEV Qualification courses"?  Doesn't look like they cover supply types or earthing

Can't do it coz it ain't an 18th edition board?.......makes me weep
I had a young lad a couple of years back tell me I wasn't qualified as I didn't have an NVQ!, Really, so a C&G and an apprenticeship is worthless now is it? lol

you have to apply the law and these companies on many grounds fail to comply. Use the law to your advantage and you will win regardless. I have just had an invoice quashed as they didn’t apply the law.

it’s so easy when you know how.
