Just done a Go-compare  ready to renew insurance next month.  No quote from existing insurers yet.

Just wondering what other guys are paying for a similar vehicle ...I can't refer back as that was my ancient Escort .

So ;   To insure Vauxhall Combo van 1800cc Diesel  ,  2003.   garaged, no signage, one 300 yr old driver ...best quote from Fluxdirect is £ 243.30 .

Includes ; courtesy vehicle /  Legal assist / windscreen .

That's a good price.

My insurance is through nfu for a similar van.(1yr older). It costs double that, but includes rac recovery..essential for a combo van

Would that be Yardley / Moseley / Billesley   MeFil ?      What the hell do they pay in the Handsworth / Lozells Areas then ?        £100  eh !   I'm in B42 ..... I think the garaging helps TBH   + no points  I 'spose.

I never heard of Fluxdirect either .

Insurance has so many variables, vehicle, location, type of cover, excess, amount of use, type of use.  each of those variables has many options. Which makes it hard to compare prices with other people.

I choose to use a local broker i have been with for 17 years. They usually have the best price, although i rarely check if they are the cheapest. For me using a local broker means a lot as i can pop down there office and sort anything out should i need to. I also like to use local companies if i can.

When i got my car recently they was able to give me full no claims on its insurance even though other companies would not as i only have full no claims on a commercial vehicle, and have not owned a car for over 12 years.

My last vehicle 2003 VW T4 2.5L TDi valued at £5000 ish using it around 12k miles a year was around £500 fully comp.

New van 2014 VW T5 2L BiTDi 180ps valued at £38000 using it 10k miles a year is £800 :(

So,  renewal with existing insurer was to be £ 356    , told them I had Fluxdirect quote for  £243  so after answering all the questions again they came up with  £255   which I accepted.  :Applaud :)
