The 150 and 300 is to do with transfer rates, however from doing a little research (google's an amazing tool-do you know what that is Steps! ;) ) it would appear that there is nothing to be gained by having the 300 over the 150, and both will happily work on a 150 connection.

 
It is a little on the large side, well bigger than the Toshiba one I pulled out of a customers dead laptop and smashed with a hammer the day before this thread started :|

The vaio was from around 2007 dunno if disks were bigger then? :C

 
it's the depth you need to worry about, how high is the drive common sizes are 7mm, 9.5mm. Too big and it won't allow the laptop shell back on.

And 150, 300, 600 refers to the drive interface speed

SATA = 150 (1.5GBps)

SATAII = 300 (3GBps)

SATAIII = 600 (6GBps)

The disc fitted is pretty slim, but the carrier is about twice the depth,

so I'd think most any disc depth would fit,

but, I know vF little about technology, should I measure it?
