    RCCB tripping randomly

power tools inherintly pull a large current and an especially large one on start up due to motors and transformers that are in use so this may be the cause of your lights dimming for a short time when they are using them. as for the rccb tripping, it could be a faulty rccb I suppose but its...

No Rcd Protection On A Tt Installation

The ze is over 300 ohms so no chance of hitting required times for mcbs. Under what circumstances can RCD be omitted on a txt system I always thought it was always required. I work in lo.don therefore not worked on tt systems before.

No Rcd Protection On A Tt Installation

How long has it been the normal practise to have RCD protection as standard on all ccts on a txt system because I did a domestic eicr and I was surprised to find the lighting ccts had no.rcd protection. Needless to say a code 1 was the order of the day.

Coding For Low Insulation Resistance And Oven/immersions On Ring Eicr

If all wiring in CCT is protected by the correct fuses I.e. 32A for a ring in 2.5mm2 cable and any spurs are protected separately by 13A fuses at a fused spur for example then there shouldn't b any chance of overloading th CCT in my opinion.Maybe a mention but no coding for the oven/immersion on...

    115V Stops Megger Testing Zs

Just finished my dinner. Thanks for your replies. I hadn't thought of dimmer switch. Yes it was taken at pendant. If there was a floating earth then surely doing a two lead test (phase and CPC connected only) wouldn't have shown any voltage at all. My colleague got 115v apparently.

    115V Stops Megger Testing Zs

Hi. I have been asked by a colleague that was carrying out a Zs on a lighting CCT what could be the cause of his megger not carrying out the test due to it only picking up 115v between phase and earth. He was doing 2 wire lo current loop test but meter just read 115v and bleeped apparently...

Erection Method/ Cable Types In Shop Displays

I have been asked to look at wiring displays in shops the type of shop where you walk into a showroom. I.e fake lounge or fake bedroom. I have done commercial stuff and domestic stuff but in this instance I was wondering before I get there what type of erection methods and cable types would be...

    Neutral Shocksssssss

Thanks for your replies . I thought it might be because of the other lights on same circuit wer still being used. As usual for this site I should have explained myself fully to let certain people know that I thought I already knew the answer but was just querying it, but I can't be bothered to...

Rcd Trips When Testing Zs On Lo Current Test.

Why does this happen sometimes. I first thought it was sensitive RCD but no trip on half times test so ruled that out. It's a pain in the arse to bypass them especially on the old 5419 type DB with type 2 3861s that I've got to test in many of my local properties at the moment cos there's no...

    Neutral Shocksssssss

How come I have got a shock off a neutral before. I never normally get anything from neutral. But I'm sure I got neutral shock onetime. It was a commercial installation and I was working on emergency lighting CCT. Light was turned off via key swiitch if I remember correctly. I was certainly...
