Hi

Be kind, i am not an electrician:)

I was curious if this is possible. I use a 3d printer, which is using an ac/dc adapter rated 12v 3amp. It it feasible to connect 12v 3a directly to the device ( discarding the adapter) via a battery/solar setup.

A brief explanation of why/why not would be amazing if possible.

thanks

It will work fine connected to an adequate 12 volt DC supply. , such as a car or leisure battery
However, if you want to charge, (for instance), a 12volt lead acid battery the voltage across it will rise to about 14.4volts. Whether your printer would be OK with that, if used at the same time, is anyone's guess.
There may be some information (on acceptable supply tolerance), in the specification, if you are lucky.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Opens a whole load of thoughts. I'll do a bit of research on them and post again once I have a better idea of what I'm asking.
Cheers
