E9 cost of electricity

Folks, I was asked by a friend who is on economy 9 variable tariff via EDF this question …if during the cheep time of the E9 supply the house lights and the kitchen kettle is used (all heating and water is off) is this electricity charged at the cheep rate or, as these items are supplied from the 24/7 supply will it be charged at normal rate ?

Yes this is the norm. The best way to check is to read both of the readings late in the evening and again in the morning. The E7 reading should increase and the day rate should hardly change
