You use your actual load to calculate VD as has been said.

You assume the supply voltage is 230v BUT YOU DO NOT CARE ABOUT THAT.

All you care about is the VD within you OWN CIRCUITRY,

As long as it does not exceed 5% for power or 3% for lighting, you are ok...

Ok, but what if your supply is actually only 220v to start with say. Well, the regs state that as long as the voltage at the equipment you are trying to power is within the range specified by the makers of the equipment, all is well...
