This mornings little job, customer purchased all materials & had already run the T/E internaly through the loft & the swa outside but couldnt work out how to do the rest, so I supplied labour only to teminate test & certificate/notify the connection of a small submain to an external cu & put power into a globe outbuilding.

This is the building

Last one shows location of the cu to the left of the decking.

(yes I was chatting & not concertrating & lopped off the circuit cpc to short hence the doubled up 2.5mm......no 4mm on the van)

Joint of swa to T/E wiska box used to enclose the joints (put in last Dec)

The FP drops to a masterseal socket on the patio below, this is a 16amp radial put in last Dec.

Im puzzled as to the IP rating of the CU to be outside?could you not put it in a decent IP rated box? or is it actually OK outside?
I was assuming the decking wasn't finished!............ :coat

t+e outside? why not come in the back of the box?

oh just read, last year, sorry. :yellow card

Steps as jono has pointed out it is IP65 mate.

t+e outside?
Why not..............but in this case I took the line of T/E is below the enclosure so not in direct sunlight/rain so no major problems.

why not come in the back of the box?
Look at the wall surface...........didnt fancy trying to make a large hole in pebble dash to accomodate a couple of glands...... in my opinion far better to come out below the enclosure then gland into the enclosure.

fair enough, ya cant all be as good as me. ;) only joking mate, only the other month i did a subby job running a t+e the full length of a semi for an osl, to the main sparks specs.

Nice job, good to see you have used earthing nuts and not stupid banjos. I see you have connected the earth conductor of outgoing swa straight onto the earthing nut. Can I ask why you don't take it to the earth bar in cu and then connect from earth bar onto earth nut? Not saying its wrong, just wondering that's all?

That's I nice little summer house indeed,

Nice use of wagos I started using these about a year ago and wont look back, they are a little bit more expensive but so much easier and less time consuming...

Looks like a nice install overall though..

Cheers

Ash

why tt when you,ve connected the cpc from the house thought it was not used from the point the glands enter the jointbox

If it wasn't connected at the joint box & out to the cu (where it is isolated & the cu is TT'd) would the distribution circuit have a cpc for the length of the swa?

TTing is my preferred method for outbuildings outside the main equipotential zone of the supplying building..old habbits die hard.
