Hi

I'm completely useless when using an extension lead for something i may not be able to, so please be patient with me.

I have a 10 amp extension cable and would like to plug in an outdoor halogen heater (sdt-1500),

is this feasible.

Thanking you in anticipation

Thankyou for that , can i put RCD in extension lead and plug heater into it, or do i need to put it in wall socket

A 10 amp extension lead should be able to carry up to 2400 Watts total so if the heater is less than (Check the information plate) then you should be good.

When using the maximum power unwind the lead completely and make sure nothing covers the cable that might get it hotter than it will be anyway.

Check the plugs /sockets for any overheating ( a little bit warm is normal) once its been on a while.

If your house doesn't have RCD protection already geting a plug-in protection unit (often sold for garden power tools) to connect into would also be a good idea
