A little food for thought here, how many times have you received an electric shock from a circuit that is rcd protected and it not trip? In the past 2 years I have had 3 stupid shocks with the rcd only tripping once. That was the worst one of the lot and I think it may have saved my life. The other 2 however didn't trip the rcd at all!

the fault current though you may not have been enough to trip the RCD. if so, is not usually enough to kill you. if its enough to trip the RCD, then it could have killed you

and how have you had 3 shocks in 2 years?! ive never had a shock in something like 3 years, probably more (dont touch anything tester hasnt)

If you take a shock across L-N then I don't see why the RCD should trip, only if you take a shock across L-E (ie touching a live and you being the earth) causing leakage of current to earth.
