Matt,

Is tha fan body twisting when you're tightening it up?

It could be then putting the whole thing out of alignment?

Is the duct blocked, i.e. is it not able to shift air, axial fans are really poor at pushing against any back pressure.

It could be that the back pressure is translating into noise and the fan is simply overloading?

HTH

Paul

Unusual for a vent axia fan to behave in this way Matty but you are right to change it if you are concerned. The points made by sidewinder is something to look at as it's something that can be overlooked especially if I've got something to do with it :slap It's one of the things I like about this forum, people are kind enough to pass on their experience. Sounds like it was faulty , unusual for V.A but its probably made in China now anyway, the blue light comes on when the light is switched on , doesn't flicker at all . Always check that the impeller blades can rotate freely inside the tube and you havn't squashed the tube when attaching ducting.

i would look up the ducting to make sure it is clear

carp can collect causing the cheaper fans to struggle

i appreciate V.A. are not the budget range ......future reference and all that.
