Crap lamp

Bad connection

Dodgy starter

Loose lamp

Dying lamp

Loss of gas

Cathode breakdown

Dodgy ballast

Swap lamp and starter if present

If this does not cure it....bin the fitting

rapid blinking of your eyes?

That made me snigger.

Just out of interest I was thinking that the dusk/dawn 2d fitting that I have outside, when it gets tired and decides to die that I would rip out its guts and fit an LED lamp into it, rather than replacing it with a 2d.
