Evening all, help required the RCD is tripping on the ring main on a kitchen circuit, I have disconnected the connections in the sockets and reset the RCD which then stays on.

If I remake the connections in the first socket only, everything is ok until I connect the cpc cables together and then the RCD trips.

You have a fault on the ring. All you have proved is it is not on the first leg.  I would advise getting a proper electrician to go further, he will have the equipment to do testing and find the fault a lot quicker than you can, and a lot safer.
