If it is, as you say, a modern equivulent: Drayton Lifestyle Dual Programmer LP112 (Same as a LP241, LP522 & LP722) then it would be:

Terminal N = Neutral

Terminal L = Live

Terminal 1 = Hot Water Off

Terminal 2 = Central Heating Off

Terminal 3 = Hot Water On

Terminal 4 = Central Heating On

On my Programmer (not the same as yours) mine is a "Horstmann Centaurplus C27)

I use:

Terminal N = Neutral

Terminal L = Live

Terminal 1 = Hot Water Off

Terminal 2 = ** SPARE **

Terminal 3 = Hot Water On

Terminal 4 = Central Heating On

(If I remember Correctly).

I think my problem is, where each of these wires go to from the programmer?

Take a look on the back of the Programmer that goes onto the base, it should have a wiring diagram as to what terminal is what.

With 3 switching cores ( 3 cre + e cable) then you normally would have CH on, HW on and HW off used.

You really need to know whats at the other end of that 3 CRE + e cable.

Is there a wiring centre/ junction box near the cylinder?

The HW on terminal on your base would normally feed a Room stat and the HW on and off terminals link with a cylinder stat via a wiring ctr/juction box.
