Checking out a Ltd Company

I know some people on here know a way of checking the status of a ltd company.

Can anyone let me know the site so that I can check out a company ive done some work for who are taking ages to pay.

Its not a large sum of money mate and im probably worrying over nothing so will chase it up.

This is also a useful little link, Ive had companies in the past try and charge me VAT when they arent VAT registered. Here is a page that you can check someone is the 'Full Ticket' as it were

You could look up their name in the London Gazette, www.gazettes-online.co.uk. Notices about bankruptcies and companies going into liquidation are usually published there.
