Installing an earth wire is required by the wiring regulations at each point of use in the fixed wiring to ensure that for future changes there is always an earth present.

Because your fittings are class II and do not require an earth it is not necessary to take the earth to the lamp holder along with the white wires.

Nominally because the whole assembly is non conducting (wood and plastic) an earth wire might not be required for the supply cable to the lamp holders.

For better compliance and possibly some additional safety on the cable itself, an earth cable would be a better construction; in case of damage to the cable the earth would ensure an RCD will trip without a live conductor needing to be exposed by the damage.
