Someone I know (not me, honest) has set up a company installing renewables. He has no electrical qualifications, certification or approvals whatsoever & is doing both domestic & commercial work. I would be interested to learn members' views if this is legit & the possible ramifications.

Well, it deffo isn`t legal - plus

1. He can`t access the carbon trust grant / loan schemes (materials supply AND installer must have MCS accredition.)

2. The works are subject to BRCS (domestic AND commercial).

3. The electrical side still has to be correctly tested & certified.

4. The government FITs (feed-in-tariffs), for selling back to the grid, are only given to those with MCS accredition.

So I am really surprised that he`s getting any work, unless he has some numpty signing off for him?

Don't think he even has a numpty.

Wanted me to do a bit of work for him relating to market research & marketing, but wasn't too keen as I didn't really want to get involved with a dubious operation.
